Case Study Information

Lone Worker and Tenant Protection
- Protection of vulnerable tenants
- Monitoring operative numbers
- Customer confidence
- PPE compliance
- Key Security
- Unauthorised persons recognition
Nottingham City Homes
Everyone associated with this contract is required to “Sign in and out” every day.
At “Sign in”, they are given a High Visibility vest with a unique number on it. At this point they have their PPE compliance checked, resolving any issues before they reach the work area and their identification badges are inspected to ensure they are accurate.
A log is kept that shows the operatives name and company, the number on the vest he is wearing, the property in which he is to be working and whether or not he has been issued keys.
Tenants are encouraged to check the badges, and if necessary, phone the site office with the vest number, before admitting the operatives into their home.
At the end of the day, all persons have to leave site via the site office and “sign out”.
From the log we can ensure that any keys issued have been returned, get an up to date report on the position of the works and pass on any requirements for additional materials etc.
If there are any vests not returned, the Manager can check his log to see who it was issued to and which property they had been working in. He would then make sure they are ok and establish whether or not there was a need to work after normal hours.
This provides safety for operatives associated with Working Alone.
Anyone found in the work area who is not wearing a numbered vest and ID badge is escorted off site immediately.
A number of individuals who had criminal intentions have been identified and reported to the local police.

Special Needs
During the consultation process of one of our projects in the East Midlands, we identified an elderly tenant, whose son has learning difficulties. Through discussion it became apparent that any change to his normal daily routine was likely to make him very nervous and stressed, leading to extreme mood-swings and aggressive behaviour.
Home Win for Hawtonville Junior School
Hawtonville Junior School entered Bullock’s competition last summer to find a school football team to sponsor and came a very close second to the winners, Willows Primary School in Grimsby.
Construction Challenge
Working in partnership with Newark & Sherwood Homes, Connaught, NEBA and Groundwork, a construction awareness event was held at Dukeries College in New Ollerton for year 9 pupils from the college and from nearby Newark High School.
