Safety – AstraZeneca
Challenges
Communication of safety performance, management of Risk Assessments and Method Statements, 'tracking' of new employees for induction and training purposes.

Action
'The Safety Wall' - all safety information is displayed in the site office or canteen.  This includes all safety statistics, current Method Statements and Risk Assessments and a system for planning and preparing for safety issues in advance.

'Buddying' - new and inexperienced operatives are 'buddied' by fully trained, experienced personnel.  This information is shown on the Safety Wall.

Outcomes
Much more access to safety information for operatives and staff is now available.

Planning of Risk Assessments and Method Statements is much better and is relayed to operatives in advance.

Accidents are being reduced and new operatives learn the practical requirements of Health and Safety much more quickly.
